Since long before prohibition Lafayette has had a great deal of brewing history.

The Spring Brewery brought water to their neighbors for many years.  They also, had one of the first known fire hydrants in Lafayette.

Bohrer and Thieme & Wagner
  In 1890, the two breweries combined annual production was 15,700 barrels per year. 19 years later in 1909 Bohrer Brewery was producing 20,000 barrels, shipping to all parts of Indiana as well as Michigan, Ohio, and Illinois.   


Thieme & Wagner was producing over 95,000 barrels of beer annually and at one time was the largest brewery in Indiana.
